The Internet is Changing How Consumers Find Local Business

In the beginning the internet was extremely popular as many people found it to be a useful and cost effective way to communicate with others across the globe. Certainly many businesses saw the internet as the ideal opportunity to be able to share information and data without concerns of it getting lost in the mail. However today, the internet is changing how consumers search for local businesses and services.

Initially it was only the much larger and more well known businesses that were using the internet to make their presence felt. And most small businesses continued to rely on the yellow pages and newspaper advertising to reach their customers. Today, most savvy local businesses are finding that having an online presence is crucial to their survival.

Building an online presence can be intimidating. Websites, Graphics and the “Online Community” don’t come easily to the average business owner. But building an online presence doesn’t have to be difficult, and for the most part, you don’t need to have a large wad of cash. In fact, many of the marketing strategies you can employ to help consumers find your local business will cost you next to nothing.
